About

We like Cyprus — and we would like living here to be easier.

cy4people is a small group of enthusiasts. We are not a design bureau and not officials: we simply live in Cyprus and keep noticing things that could be better — sometimes much better, and for very little money.

Almost everything we write about has been solved somewhere already. Cities around the world have spent decades on the same questions, published their results and counted honestly what worked and what did not. Our job is to find those solutions, check the numbers and fit them to the Cypriot context: our street widths, our climate, our habits.

What we write about

There are plenty of topics, and not all of them are about streets:

  • pavements, parking and how traffic is organised inside neighbourhoods;
  • public transport and why people avoid it;
  • trees and shade — on an island that is hot half the year;
  • parks, squares and simply places to sit;
  • cycling, and how to reach the sea without risking your life.

How a study is built

Usually like this: we show the problem in photographs of a specific place, explain where it comes from, give examples of cities that fixed it, and draw a visualisation — how the same place could look afterwards.

An important caveat

Our diagrams and visualisations are concepts, not approved projects. They are built from open data, satellite imagery and street panoramas. We do not present them as official decisions: the point is to show that an alternative exists and that it is buildable.
